Mambo 4.5.3 That's No Beta |

What is the first sign of a project death ? As soon as people start thinking they can rewrite the vision and direction without regard for consequence, that is when the project is heading towards death.
The latest release from the Mambo Foundation, 4.5.3 Beta, should be considered in this light primarily because it significantly diverges from the existing roadmap laid out by the current core developers. The current core developers, who now reside at OpenSourceMatters, have better understanding of what this release actually means than anyone who currently maintains the code. Numerous parties have already written up their analysis of this new code release, both on Open Source Matters and elsewhere.
In this light, I can no longer recommend the Mambo platform as a stable content management system, due to the amount of organisational entropy shown by the Foundation in mismanaging the Mambo brandname, intellectual property and codebase. My recommendation is that all users of the Mambo brand follow the core development team at Open Source Matters. This will guarantee a much cleaner, much more stable codebase and management than what is currently being offered to end users on the Mambo Foundation websites.
